The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) convened recently to discuss important updates and finalize preparations for the upcoming Lenten season. Presided over by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Paulo B. Barandon, the meeting gathered key leaders, including members of the Executive Committee (ExeCom), Parish Pastoral Council, Parish Commissions Officers, Barangay Pastoral Council, representatives from religious organizations, and lay chairpersons. The meeting focused on upcoming Lenten activities, ensuring that the parish community is spiritually prepared for the season of reflection and renewal. Among the major events planned are:
Lenten Recollection – A parish-wide spiritual gathering aimed at deepening the faithful’s understanding of Lent and fostering personal reflection. This will happen on April 9, 2025, at 1:30 in the afternoon at the parish church with Reverend Mark Austin Tuazon as the recollection master. This will be followed by a group picture taking of all religious organization’s members.
Parish Pilgrimage to the Seven Pilgrim Churches – A meaningful journey to different churches, allowing participants to engage in prayer and meditation. This will commence on June 12, 2025 in consonance with the Jubilee Year of Hope.
Via Crucis (Way of the Cross) – A communal reenactment of Christ’s Passion, encouraging devotion and reflection on His sacrifice. The Station of the Cross is done every Friday which started last March 7, 2025. The Station of the Cross is done every Friday at 6:00 in the evening around the Poblacion’s processional route and every Sunday after the 5:30 pm mass, in the parish Patio.
Lenten Exhibit – An exhibit to deepen faith and reflection. As part of its Lenten Observance, a Lenten exhibit shall be showcased at the Ligao City Library Heritage and Museum. It aimed at deepening the faithful’s understanding of Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection. The exhibit is designed to enhance Lenten experience by providing a deeper connection to the spiritual journey of Christ. All parishioners, especially families and youth, are encouraged to participate and take advantage of this opportunity for prayer and contemplation. This will run from March 20-30, 2025.
Tanog asin Tingog kan Parokya Raffle Draw – A fundraising initiative supporting parish programs and activities. During the discussion, Fr. Barandon emphasized the importance of community participation in these activities, encouraging all pastoral councils, commissions, and religious organizations to work together in ensuring their success. This initiative is for the brand-new sound system of the church.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment among the attendees to actively engage the parishioners and foster a spirit of unity and faith during the Lenten season. The Parish Pastoral Council and its committees will continue to coordinate efforts to ensure a meaningful and well-organized observance of Lent.
