In a vibrant display of community spirit, the Parish of St. Stephen Protomartyr embarked on a clean-up drive that not only aimed to beautify the parish grounds but also strengthen bonds among its members. Held on September 23, 2024, the initiative was spearheaded by the Parish Renewal Experience (PREX) group through the Lead Couple Kuya Ted R. Revidad and Ate Liza L. Revidad, with strong support from the TUPAD beneficiaries of Barangay Guilid through Brgy. Capt. Kent M. Pintor. The activity, which took place around the church and its surrounding areas, saw enthusiastic participation from both young and old, all motivated by a shared goal—to create a cleaner, more inviting space for worship and reflection. Armed with brooms, dustpans, and gardening tools, volunteers diligently cleared pathways, trimmed overgrown plants, and properly disposed of trash. Rev. Fr. Paulo B. Barandon, the parish priest of St. Stephen Protomartyr, expressed his gratitude to the volunteers. “This clean-up drive is a testament to our commitment to not only spiritual growth but also to taking care of the environment God has entrusted to us,” he said. The collaboration between the PREX group and TUPAD highlighted the strength of the community’s partnership with government initiatives. TUPAD, a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), provided temporary employment to the residents of Brgy. Guilid, giving them an opportunity to contribute to the parish while earning income. Their hard work, combined with the PREX’s dedication, turned the event into a significant moment of unity and shared responsibility. As the activity ends, the participants reflected on the value of service—service to the Church, to the environment, and to each other. The clean-up drive may have concluded, but the sense of camaraderie and commitment it fostered will leave a lasting impact on the parish community. With efforts like this, the Parish of St. Stephen Protomartyr continues to stand as a beacon of faith, service, and care for both its members and the environment, inspiring other communities to follow and imitate.
