Called to Serve: Rejoicing in the Gift of Priesthood

With hearts full of joy and gratitude, we come together as one faith community to celebrate the upcoming priestly ordination of our beloved brothers in Christ – Rev. John Bosco Jaucian, ORC and Rev. John Berchmans Embudo, ORC on May 31, 2025 at 9:00 in the morning at the Parish of St. Stephen the Protomartyr. Both Rev. John Bosco and Rev. John Berchman are from Ligao City. Bosco is from Dunao and Berchman is from Mahaba. The two had their studies and seminary formation in Brazil.

This sacred moment marks not only the culmination of years of formation, discernment, and prayer, but also the beginning of a profound new chapter of service to the Church and to the people of God.

As we prepare to witness this blessed occasion, we are reminded of the unfathomable generosity of Divine Providence, who calls ordinary men to an extraordinary vocation. Through His grace, our brothers have responded with courage and humility to the Lord’s invitation: “Follow me.” Now, through the laying on of hands and the prayer of consecration, they will be configured to Christ the Eternal High Priest—forever marked by His mission of love, sacrifice, and shepherding.

In their “yes” to God, these men offer their lives as living witnesses to the Gospel. They are entrusted with the sacred mysteries: to proclaim the Word, to celebrate the sacraments, and to guide the faithful as spiritual fathers and servants of communion. Their ordination is not only a personal milestone but a gift to the whole Church—a sign of hope in a world hungering for truth, mercy, and holiness.

As we approach this joyful day, let us lift our prayers in thanksgiving for the journey that has led them to this point. Let us also pray for their continued strength and fidelity, that they may always be conformed to the heart of Christ the Good Shepherd.

May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Clergy, St. Stephen the Protomartyr and all the saints intercede for our brothers as they embrace their vocation. And may this celebration rekindle in each of us a deeper love for the priesthood and a renewed zeal to support and pray for all those who serve the Lord in this sacred calling.

Deo Gratias!
