On a grace-filled evening last May 29, 2025, the parish of St. Stephen Protomartyr came alive with the fragrance of flowers and the fervor of prayer as the Commission on Youth led the community in a beautiful celebration of the Living Rosary and Flores de Mayo, in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
With the theme “A Celebration for the Month of Mary,” the event gathered parishioners of all ages—children, youth, and adults—for a night of deep devotion, solemn reflection, and joyful offering. The rosary was prayed meditatively, with each mystery led by representatives from various ministries and organizations. As each bead was offered, a flower was laid before the image of Mama Mary, transforming the altar into a radiant garden of love and gratitude.
The celebration was prayerfully led by Rev. John Bosco, whose calm and reverent presence guided the community throughout the rosary. We were also blessed by the presence and support of our parish priest, Fr. Pau, and our parochial vicars, whose continued pastoral care inspires the youth to be active stewards of faith.
Children, dressed in white, stepped forward one by one with flower offerings—symbols of innocence and pure devotion. Alongside them were devotees and members of religious organizations, each one presenting their bloom with personal intentions and heartfelt prayers.
The altar servers added grace and solemnity to the celebration, while the choir lifted spirits with Marian hymns that echoed the joy of honoring the Mother of God. The evening concluded with a short message of thanksgiving and a final blessing, sealing the moment with peace and unity.
Notably, this year’s celebration was graced by the participation of children from Mahaba, Ligao City, members of the Catholic Women’s League, the Ministry of Altar Servers, and the Easter Angels, with the generous support of Tita Angie Cha and the devoted parents who guided their children in offering flowers to Our Lady.
More than a tradition, the Living Rosary and Flores de Mayo was a heartfelt act of love and devotion—a community’s way of drawing nearer to Mary, and through her, to Jesus.
Though the Marian month has passed, may the spirit of this celebration continue to bloom in our hearts throughout the year. May our daily lives reflect the same faith, humility, and love we offered at Mary’s feet.
Ave Maria!
