St. Stephen Protomartyr Parish in Ligao City Pilgrimage to the Seven Jubilee Churches in the Diocese of Legazpi

Yesterday, we embarked on a sacred ‘Pilgrimage of Hope’ (Camino de Esperanza), visiting the 7 revered churches. A Pilgrimage of Hope, as encouraged by Pope Francis, is a journey of faith, prayer, and reflection that brings people together in search of spiritual renewal, healing, and guidance. It’s an opportunity to deepen our relationship with God, seek His mercy and love, and find hope in His presence.

As we walked from one church to another, we were reminded of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, where Jesus joined them in walking, talking, and sharing a meal. Fr. Pau’s homily beautifully highlighted this parallel, inspiring us to deepen our faith and trust in the Lord. He also reminded us that if we lose hope, we lose everything, but with hope, we can overcome even the most daunting challenges. The holy mass was a highlight of our pilgrimage, filling our hearts with joy, peace, and devotion. We’re grateful to Fr. Pau and Fr. Pipo for leading us on this spiritual journey, and to the parish priests who warmly welcomed us along the way.

By joining this Pilgrimage of Hope, we sought to renew our spirits and deepen our faith, seek God’s mercy, love, and guidance, find hope and strength in His presence, build a sense of community and unity with fellow pilgrims, and reflect on our lives and recommit to our faith journey.

As we journey through life, we strive to hold onto hope that’s not despair – a hope that’s grounded in reality, not naive, but resilient and empowering. May our pilgrimage bring us closer to God and to each other, and may we continue to recognize Jesus’ presence in our lives, especially in times of uncertainty or disappointment.
