Year of Stewardship: 2025 Diocese of Legazpi
The Diocese of Legazpi has declared 2025 as the Year of Stewardship under the theme, “Simbahan nin mga Katiwala: Nangangataman, Namamahala” (Church of Stewards: Caring and Governing). This year-long celebration emphasizes the faithful’s role as responsible caretakers of God’s gifts, inspired by the biblical foundation and theological reflection.
Key Themes and Directions:
- Spiritual Foundation:
- Rooted in 1 Peter 4:10, the call to stewardship encourages using God’s gifts for the benefit of others.
- Humanity is tasked with taking care of creation (Genesis 2:15) and living as faithful and wise stewards (Luke 12:42-44).
- Pastoral Focus:
The year will highlight three pillars:- Conversion of Heart (Kombersyon kan Puso): A renewal to manage God’s gifts with responsibility.
- Compassion (Hararom na Pagmakulog): Caring for creation, the poor, and vulnerable in alignment with Laudato Si’.
- Co-responsibility (Pakikiisa sa Responsabilidad): Collective efforts for ecological and social balance.
- Five Aspects of Stewardship:
Practical initiatives will center on:- Environmental Stewardship (Sept – Nov 2024): Addressing environmental challenges.
- Financial Stewardship (Dec 2024 – Feb 2025): Promoting responsible resource management.
- Health Stewardship (Mar – May 2025): Ensuring quality healthcare access.
- Technological Stewardship (June – Aug 2025): Ethical use of technology for the common good.
