Youth Encounter Program 2025 St. Stephen the Protomartyr Parish Theme: “Come and See” (John 1:39)

From June 6–8, 2025, the Parish Youth Council of St. Stephen the Protomartyr Parish joyfully held a deeply moving and grace-filled Youth Encounter Program (YEP), participated in by 36 young people from various barangays within the parish jurisdiction.

Rooted in Jesus’ invitation in John 1:39, “Come and see,” the YEP called the youth to pause from their daily routines, enter into silence, and encounter the loving presence of Christ—in their hearts, in the Word, and in one another. It was more than just a weekend event—it was a sacred space where the restless found peace, the searching found direction, and the wounded found hope.

The program opened with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, presided over by Rev. Fr. John Bechmans P. Embudo, ORC, reminding everyone that it is Christ who first calls and gathers. Over the next few days, participants were immersed in powerful sessions on faith, identity, and vocation. These moments were not only informative but transformative—touching the depths of the heart and awakening a renewed desire to follow Christ closely.

Highlights included moments of communal prayer and praise, small group sharing, and intentional relationship and community building—which helped the youth break down walls of fear, insecurity, and indifference, and instead build bridges of trust, friendship, and faith.

One of the most grace-filled experiences was the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, facilitated by Rev. Fr. Romeo Realingo Jr. Many young people came forward with tears, carrying burdens long kept hidden, and left with hearts renewed by the overwhelming mercy of God. Truly, it was a moment of coming home to the Father.

The encounter concluded with a beautiful Closing Mass, celebrated by Rev. Fr. John Bosco Jaucian, ORC, sealing the experience with joy, gratitude, and mission. The youth were not sent home empty—but filled, empowered, and anointed to live out their faith in the everyday circumstances of their lives.

This Youth Encounter reminded us that Jesus is still calling today’s young people—not to perfection, but to presence. He invites them not because they are ready, but because they are loved.

As one body, the youth echoed their “yes” to the call of Jesus. And as they return to the world, they carry this light within them—the light of one weekend that changed their hearts forever.

Salamat sa Dios! Ad Majorem dei Gloriam
